he graduation of Universitas Terbuka (UT) was held on Aug. 23. The event, held for the second period of the class of 2022, was offline for the first time in two years. There were more than 38,000 graduates from the 2022 judiciary period, graduating on three different occasions in April and May.
This festivity was reserved for the best students. They included: Level 1 Ridawati Sirait Master’s Program in English Education UPBJJ-UT Medan with a GPA of 4.00 (predicate graduation with compliments); Strata 1 Arya Dwari Rahmani, Public Administration Study Program for Personnel Interests, UPBJJ-UT Bogor with a GPA of 4.00 (graduating with praise); and Diploma 3 (D-III) Mochammad Fu'ad Islam Taxation Study Program, UPBJJ-UT Batam GPA 3.97 (graduation with praise).
One student graduating with high praise was not able to attend -- the late Nofriansyah Yoshua, known to the whole country by now as “Brigadier Yoshua”, who achieved a 3.28 GPA. UT invited the family of the deceased to the graduation festivities in order to receive his diploma posthumously. Yoshua was a student of the Law Studies Program, Faculty of Law and Social and Political Sciences (FHISIP), UPBJJ-UT Jambi who had been registered since 2015. His mother is an alumnus of UT and his sister is currently enrolled at UT as a student.
Moreover, the day was an important one as UT signed several Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs): one with the provincial government of Bali, the second with the provincial government of East Kalimantan, another with the South Tangerang city government and lastly with the Tebing Tinggi city government of North Sumatra. Before signing the cooperation, Bali Governor Ir. Wayan Koster, M.M. delivered a speech to all in attendance.
For the same occasion, a public figure, Bayu Oktara, also completed his master's degree and graduated in Period II. He previously received his bachelor's degree at UT in the Communication Studies Study Program, FHISIP UT in 2016.
