Tomorrow, 10,000 runners from all over Indonesia and abroad will be sent off with flag-offs that have been divided into multiple stages. The marathon category (42.195 kilometers) will begin at 4:30 (WITA); the half-marathon (21.0975 km) at 5:15; the 10k category at 6:00; and the wheelchair category at 6:10. This year, still in the spirit of independent day, Maybank will be awarding Rp 2.7 million (US$18,000) for 118 runners including record-breakers.

In the press conference, Maybank also shared security details, with 850 police officers and 450 traditional security guards known as pecalang from around Gianyar. The Bali regional police will also divert traffic along Jalan Bypass I.B Mantra and village roads between Ketwel, Guwang and Medahan.

The committee will also station 850 marshal personnel, 180 paramedics and 26 ambulance units consisting of 11 regular ambulance vans, 15 ambulance motorcycles and one emergency-standard ambulance. There will also be 40 pacers with first-aid emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training standing by along the marathon track.

Maybank also held a race pack collection (RPC) from Aug. 27-28  to allow participants to take their race packs. For their safety, Maybank Indonesia uses a “You Register, You Run” policy so runners can only collect their race packs according to their assigned numbers. Running slots are non-transferable and runners can only run within their registered category.

In compliance with local health protocols, runners will need to have a third vaccination and log in via their PeduliLindungi tracing app before entering the RPC area and the Race Village. Additionally, every runner is required to bring a hand sanitizer and keep a safe distance throughout the event

This year, the Maybank Marathon will be featuring celebrity performances, exhibitions and more. To introduce Maybank products, the comittee has set up a Maybank Interactive Lounge, Maybank Premier & VIP Lounge and Maybank Information Station. The event will also be using the QRIS payment on the M2U digital banking application to purchase sponsor products, such as food and beverages.

We have been assisted by the Bali provincial government, the Bali regional police, the Bali Indonesian Red Cross, sponsors, the local community and more,” said Maybank Indonesia director of operations Widya Permana.

With a decade-long history under its belt, the Maybank Marathon has been crowned as one of the World Athletics’ Elite-labeled road races. This year, the Maybank Marathon 2022 is joined by ten elite international runners consisting of five male and five female runners, along with nine elite Indonesian runners comprising five male and four female runners.
