Seeking as much experience as possible while studying can be valuable because it can be an asset when entering the world of work.
Students who have experience participating in competitions and training will be favored in the job market. Recruiters certainly prefer to work with students who have experience off campus than with those who only go to college and then go home.
Students majoring in technology and digital sciences can take part in the ICStar Hackathon. The ICStar Hackathon program is a competition that combines competition, training and recruitment for the younger generation in Indonesia, especially students and fresh graduates. This program is held to bridge universities and industries by utilizing the latest technological trends in the form of low-code platforms and robotic process automation (RPA) as the center of competition topics.
“There are no special requirements. This competition is open to all participants from any university. In fact, we really encourage participants from all over Indonesia to join. Our majors are indeed more focused on IT, because they have to understand programming algorithms and logical thinking," an organizer representative said.
“In 2022, the ICStar Hackathon combined collaboration between Indonesia, Malaysia and South Africa to increase competitiveness and the level of competition. The total prize provided was Rp 200 million for the winning team. From a total of 900-plus participants who registered, as many as 78 participants who passed were selected and could be recruited by several big participating companies," said Arifa Tan, founder of IFT Group.
Several companies participating in the ICStar Hackathon 2022 competition were BCA, Indosat Ooredo Hutchison, Adira Finance and Ifabula. There were also several foreign companies participating in the ICStar Hackathon 2022, including the Africa Digital Center from South Africa and Technology Visionaries from Malaysia. The event was also supported by KOOKY & MustM Entertainment from South Korea and the Indonesia Career Center Network.
In the ICStar Hackathon 2022 competition, collaboration and partnerships were formed with many top universities, including IT DEL, Dian Nuswantoro University (UDINUS), Jakarta STMI Polytechnic, Telkom University, Brawijaya University, UNPAD and Bina Sarana Informatics University. Some universities also want to join the ICStar Hackathon in the future because the competition will provide valuable experience for students who successfully become ICStar Hackathon participants.
