Embrace the silence with Four Points by Sheraton Bali Kuta on Nyepi

W

ith Nyepi, the Hindu Day of Silence, fast approaching, Four Points by Sheraton Bali Kuta is welcoming guests from near and far to experience the celebration in the heart of Kuta, one of the busiest areas of the island.

Nyepi is also known as New Year’s Day in the Balinese Saka Calendar. It is a day where locals turn their back on all worldly activities, lights and sounds. Instead of the buzz of traffic, the island of Bali turns its attention to the serenity and sounds of nature and the sea. It is a time when complete silence and serenity reigns over the entire island.

The day is usually marked by staying home with the family as no shops or streets are open for business. However, Four Points by Sheraton Bali Kuta has come equipped with some activities to immerse their guests in the local culture, including Indonesian cooking classes at its Vertigo Bar, an in-house Cinema and towel folding.

For those who do not observe Nyepi, the fun really starts 24 hours prior to the holy day. Every year, the streets come alive with the sounds of traditional gamelan and people crowd different locations with the most colorful offerings in preparation for the day.

On March 21 and 23, guests of Four Points by Sheraton Bali Kuta are encouraged to witness the Pengerupukan ceremony with locals on Jl. Legian, within a five minutes’ walk from hotel. The annual ritual will also feature Ogoh-ogoh (gigantic and artistic demon figurines).

In order to celebrate, Four Points by Sheraton Bali Kuta is offering for a limited time a two-night stay during Nyepi for Rp 2.340.000 (US$152) per night. The low price will include a three-day stay in the dedicated rooms, with daily buffet breakfast for two adults, and dinner at The Eatery for two adults on March 22.
