he greens in economy, technology and products must be encouraged to strengthen Indonesia’s competency in the face of the global market.
At the beginning of March, The International Energy Agency (IEA) reported the increasing rate of carbon emissions throughout 2022, showcasing 0.9 percent. This led the energy production to produce greenhouse gas emissions with the reach of 36.8 gigatons.
Meanwhile, carbon dioxide emissions from coal increased 1.6 percent in the last year.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed on various occasions how energy transformation towards new and renewable energy must begin.
In conjunction with Present Jokowi’s agenda in developing the solar power generation sector, SoHo (Solar House) which is a non-profit organization, has set foot in the land of Papu with the purpose of prospering the potential of local resources by using solar panels.
Five sets of solar panels were placed in Kampung Swanderek and the Raja Ampat regency to indicate one of their many efforts of developing the green industry, to support the Indonesian Government transition program rising towards the Net Zero Emission by 2060.
On a more impressive note, the establishment of solar panels in Kampung Sawandarek was initiated by a student from Jakarta, Arnold Surjaputra. On Monday, the young man was able to shed more light behind his purpose.
“I did not only establish the solar panel in Kampung Sawandarek to ensure an optimal development of natural resources within the tourist attractions–but to also provide the local community with the joy of having electric facilities,” Arnold begins.
According to Arnold, the use of solar panels reaffirms the production of green energy in Indonesia, which is parallel with the government’s program regarding the transformation of renewable energy.
“There are various benefits. The local community could receive electricity through this panel, which creates a friendly environment–for tourism as well. International tourists who come here can carry out their daily activities with great optimization from the power source of the sun,” noted the sixteen-year-old student.
Caretaker Head of Kampung Sawandarek, Kristian Sauyai welcomed these installations of panels with a sense of warmth.
Kristian says that Arnold’s installation of solar energy grants the local community with happiness, as it equips them with ease when pursuing their daily activities.
Meanwhile, Stanley Rahman who is the head of community empowerment at the Raja Ampat regency expressed his gratitude upon SoHo for their initiative in progressing Papua through their concept of green energy.
Arnold’s inner purpose behind making SoHo is conscientious and rather heartfelt. “The point is the extent of how much the younger generation cares about Indonesia through the use of solar energy, ” said Arnold in his closing statement.
Arnold’s empathy elicits his hope of inspiring the younger generation to utilize green energy, in promoting an abundance of care for the Indonesian community.
