T Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), as a financing company under the ultra-micro holding, continues to empower not only their customers, but also the employees at the forefront of their business. Dyah Ayu Febrianti Wabang is one of the PNM personnel who has benefited from employee empowerment through educational scholarships.
Joining the company as an Account Office (AO) PNM in 2018, the woman known as Ayu had the opportunity to meet with State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir at the PNM headquarters in 2021. As an accomplished AO she was able to receive an undergraduate scholarship, majoring in management at Universitas Terbuka.
Ayu realized that pursuing a higher education will help her grow her career and perspective.
"Studying while working has a lot of challenges, but if I don't take this course seriously, I will lose. Moreover, since college I have seen many new perspectives that were previously unthinkable,” said the woman who has entered her fifth semester of lectures.
She felt motivated to keep working during her studies. College teaches Ayu management theory, meeting ultra-micro customers with whom she could immediately apply what she learned in college.
"So, what I get is complete. Theory and practice can be immediately aligned,” she added.
Her hard work paid off. The performance and education that she is currently doing has taken Ayu to a higher career level in PNM, from account officer to Head of the Mekaar Northwest Alor unit, East Nusa Tenggara. Ayu is more convinced of the importance of education for the younger generation, especially working women.
It takes extra effort to continuously hold two roles as an employee and a student. Hence, Ayu keeps reminding her friends to go to college as soon as possible, so that what they learn can be of benefit to themselves and the underprivileged community.
“Usually, when you feel comfortable working, you are hesitant to start college. That's why you have to have a strong determination and consistently live it. Especially for women, when they become mothers, the consideration will definitely be even more," Ayu concluded.
As a company that has disbursed more than Rp 19 trillion in financing to customers (in the January to March 2023 period), PNM is committed to continue to grow by contributing to the national economy, while also caring about providing benefits to the education sector.
