mbracing the theme “With Reality in Creation”, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) held a series of competitive activities involving all PNM employees ahead of the company’s 24th anniversary.
On approaching the new era, PNM is encouraging all its customers to contribute their best toward continuous improvement of quality of life. One of these is a handicraft business that uses recycled coconut shells established by one of PNM’s disabled customers, Lia Sya Baniyah, demonstrating the power of perseverance to turn an idea into reality.
Lia has not allowed her speaking and hearing impairments to prevent her from continually striving toward realizing her passion and creative talents as a business, which she runs with her husband. The couple’s hard work paid off when her final waste coconut shell creations were featured at the INACRAFT 2023 creative industry exhibition in March.
Empowered through assistance from PNM, Lia and her husband’s productive collaboration opened further opportunities for the ultra micro business in Probolinggo, East Java, to ship its creative products to new markets in Bali and Kalimantan.
For more than two decades, PNM has played an active role in empowering ultra micro businesses across the archipelago. It has focused on not only supporting business operations, but also upholding its commitment to sustainable development programs, as well as implementing environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.
Now with 14 million customers, PNM has disbursed microfinance totaling Rp 19 trillion between January and March as a real indicator of its successful efforts over the past 24 years.
PNM president director Arief Mulyadi emphasized that this was a significant achievement.
“Alhamdulillah [Praise be to God],” Arief said. “PNM will be entering its 24th year as it approaches a new era. Of course, all of PNM’s achievements represent success for us all, specifically our drivers of the people’s economy and our customers throughout Indonesia.”
This was a reflection of PNM’s consistent mission in encouraging ultra micro businesses to become the main drivers of the people’s economy. It also showed that the hard work of all PNM employees had become a reality, contributing to the development of the people’s economy for more than 20 years.
The company’s 24th anniversary was celebrated through a series of activities, including sports competitions that spanned from futsal to badminton and walks to Mobile Legends e-sports tournaments, showing PNM’s commitment to increasing inclusion and fun beyond work.
“Togetherness and sportsmanship, along with teamwork, are celebrated in these activities [aimed] to support each other, not only in the workplace but also in other [spheres],” Arief said.
