The sixth ArtMoments Jakarta has finally arrived

rtMoments Jakarta, the beloved event by art enthusiasts in the city, is back. The event serves as a bridge for art enthusiasts and collectors to explore works from 25 prominent national and international art galleries from around the region.

This year marks the sixth edition of the fair, taking place from Friday to Sunday at the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Grand Jakarta, Gandaria City Hotel.

“With the presence of ArtMoments Jakarta 2023, we want to drive significant progress in the Indonesian art industry. We seek to broaden art appreciation and stimulate a rich cultural dialogue by presenting quality work from various perspectives. By facilitating interactions between artists, collectors and art connoisseurs, we pave the way for more growth and connection in the creative landscape,” said Sendy Widjaja, cofounder and fair director of ArtMoments Jakarta.

.

Opening on Friday (18/08), the event attracted VIP guests and members of the media. The occasion featured a symbolic flower-cutting ceremony at the installation "Perjalanan: Bunga yang Bercerita" by acclaimed floral artist Nina Nasution.

Nina was also among the most reputable artists represented from different galleries, including Japanese artist Miwa Komatsu; Arkiv Vilmansa; internationally-known Indonesian contemporary artists Eko Nugroho, Heri Dono and Handiwirman; emerging Indonesian artist Laksamana Ryo; as well as Indonesian painter Erizal.

Attendees were also offered the opportunity to watch panel discussions and workshops, titled Converse Moments and Maker Moments respectively. All the events are in line with the fair’s mission to create a more inclusive and socially responsible event for art enthusiasts.

Similar to its precedents, Maker Moments once again is a collaboration between ArtMoments and the Indonesian Special Family Forum (FORKESI), which will oversee an art workshop involving children with special needs from age 8 through 15. The event will accompany other Maker Moment programs, such as the Plasticology workshop by Balinese artist and environmental activist I Made Bayak, where participants will learn how to repurpose plastic waste into works of art.

An event that has always been anticipated is the annual charity auction, once again led by the fair’s Official Auction Partner, Masterpiece. The event will facilitate the sale of notable works of art from the personal collection of the late Leo Silitonga, who was a founder of ArtMoments Jakarta.

The auction serves as a tribute to Leo's enduring legacy, with the proceeds to be donated for the children's education initiative of Museum MACAN, a community partner of ArtMoments Jakarta 2023. This initiative collaborates with numerous schools, educators and communities across Indonesia to nurture arts-focused educational programs.
