rom Aceh Gayo to Baliem Valley in Papua, coffee has evolved from a beverage to a lifestyle, and many rely on it to start their day. According to the Foreign Ministry, Indonesia is one of the largest coffee producing and exporting countries in the world.

It is no surprise that Indonesia’s coffee industry is experiencing rapid and positive development along with the rise in coffee shops and cafés across the archipelago. For many people, these new coffee hot spots represent more than just a place to drink a beverage, but also serve as a space to meet others and exchange ideas.

Realizing the increasing public enthusiasm for coffee, Inspira Roasters again held Mindbrewing: Inspira Coffee Week at the end of September across its outlets in Yogyakarta and Bandung.

.

The event launched at the GAIA Cosmo Hotel Yogyakarta and ran from Sept. 14 to 22. Every guest who checked in during the Inspira Coffee Week received extra benefits in the form of a voucher for sampling coffee brewed by the skilled baristas of Inspira Roasters. Free cupping of any coffee variety was also available to all interested guests.

The Yogyakarta coffee week featured a total of seven coffee varieties from Inspira Roasters’ menu: Aceh Gayo, Bali Kintamani, Flores Bajawa, Sidikalang Dairi, East Java Ijen, Yogyakarta Menoreh and Papua Wamena. A different coffee variety was sampled each day of the coffee week, allowing visitors to explore the authentic flavor of coffees from across the country.

Inspira Coffee Week visitors also had an opportunity to learn about the profiles and processing methods of each variety. Visitors then partake of the coffee cupping sessions and additional workshops on offer to better understand the material.

The highlight of the coffee week was a special poolside workshop on Sept. 20 at the GAIA Cosmo Hotel Yogyakarta. Themed "The Future of Indonesian Coffee Processing”, participants were led by coffee experts Andry Mahardika from The Creator Coffee and Eka Teguh Kurniawan from Finca Don Obar for an in-depth look at how coffee beans get from a plantation to a mug.

Not one to miss out on the fun, Bandung held its own Mindbrewing at Inspira Roasters from Sept. 20 to 23. A coffee stand was installed in the lobby area, where guests could interact with baristas and enjoy a coffee tasting.

The city held its own special workshop on Sept. 22 as the event highlight, featuring John Richard Christopher, who placed first in the Indonesia Brewers Championship 2022 and placed fifth in the World Brewers Championship 2022. He presented a seminar on "4th Wave of Coffee in Indonesia Post-Pandemic", speaking in depth about topics from post-harvest coffee processing to upcoming industry trends.

The Mindbrewing event closed with a coffee class held at both Inspira Roasters Bandung and Yogyakarta outlets on September 23, aiming to introduce coffee lovers to everything coffee, from manual brewing techniques to latte art for beginners.
