LG announces winners of Modern and Harmonious House Competition

T LG Electronics Indonesia has announced the winners of the LG Objet Design Competition, distributing prizes totalling Rp 200 million.

The LG Objet Design Competition announced the winners in Jakarta on Monday, celebrating the best designs in the two competed categories, Professional and Student. Aside from the two categories, the national-scale competition themed Harmonizing Modern House also bestowed a special award, the Social Media Award, for a winner from each category.

The three primary winners were selected by judges made up of LG Electronics Indonesia, as the organizer, and a representative from the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Architect Association (IAI) and the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Interior Design Association (HDII).

The involvement of the AIA and the HDII, which serve as an umbrella for architects and interior designers respectively in Indonesia, reflected the two associations’ support of the program from the beginning. The winners of the Social Media Award were selected by considering the popularity of their work in the social media platform.

The three judges assessed the works sent by the contestants based on the multiple aspects corresponding to the expertise of the three judges.

Ar Novriansyah Yakub from IAI Jakarta assessed the future residence designs from the perspective of architecture.

Diana Nazir from HDII Jakarta shared her expertise by evaluating the works based on the layout design and space.

Representing the company, LG Electronics Indonesia Marketing and Relations director Jay Lang, completed the assessment by focusing on how to harmonize  the placement of LG Objet Collection with the available space by taking into account the optimal utilization of the products for users.

Names of winners

Marcellus Rafi won first place in the Professional category. While, David Wibowo Sampurna and Ogi Julian Saputra won second and third place in the same category, respectively.

Vanidia Vegantara succeeded in winning the Social Media Award in the Professional category for gaining the greatest number of “likes” through her work posted on her Instagram account.  

In the Student category, Massa won first place. Vincentius Bhima Ardhatama and Kesi Nurmilawati won the second and third place, respectively. The Social Media Award was awarded to Marsha Theresia.

The Student category was specially intended for students pursuing a D3-undergraduate course majoring in architecture from the University of Indonesia and also architects and interior designers who were not members of the IAI and the HDII.

Apart from a trophy, each of the winners also received LG products, a certificate and a shopping voucher worth Rp 2 million (US$126).

“We hope that the winning works can inspire the growth of design and layout of modern residences, which prioritize the harmonization between users, space and electronic products that support their daily lives,” said LG Electronics Indonesia’s president Lee Taejin in a welcoming speech read by a representative from the company.

According to Lee Taejin, throughout the competition that kicked off on July 22 and ran through Sept. 8, 2023, LG Objet Competition attracted more than 100 participants who sent their work.

The name LG Objet Design Competition was taken after similar name of LG’s newest collection. Targeted to modern families, the collection covers refrigerators, washing machines, water purifiers and televisions.

The more coloring finishing touch and the aesthetic designs are the outstanding hallmark that the products offer.  Specific models of the collection include TV LG OLED Pose, LG WashTower, LG AeroTowe and LG InstaView.

TV LG OLED Pose’s sustaining high legs resemble a painting canvas. While, the LG WashTower, utilized to wash and dry clothes, enables the efficient use of space and, at the same time, enhance the clothes’ care performance thanks to the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI).

LG AeroTower is the LG Objet collection’s air purifier product. Its tall shape makes it visually attractive. The AeroTower’s filtration capability and unique air flowing mode allows a flow of fresh air filling the entire room.

When it comes to the refrigerators, LG Objet utilizes the LG InstaView model, recognizable for the feature where one of the doors becomes transparent with just two taps of a finger. Apart from that, there is the LG Larder and Freezer Objet Collection.

Not to be missed is a refrigerator called the Bottom Freezer. As the name suggests, the freezer is placed at the bottom of the unit, with the refrigerator the top section. Aside from the appealing color and finishing of the Bottom Freezer, the design with the freezer placed on the bottom is a unique appeal, offering you the comfort of interacting daily with the refrigerator without having to stoop. 

“The overall collections have been made in the spirit of meeting the demands of a modern lifestyle in a residential property that surpasses the function and performance. And yet, it also prioritizes the aesthetical aspect and harmonizing between the rooms that provide the occupants with comfort,” said Lee Taejin.

This spirit of LG Objet has resonated with the primary goal of the holding of the LG residential design competition. The competition has not only focused on modern house design but also put the accent on aesthetics and, at the same time, harmonizing the space and layout of the various electronic devices, he said. 

Lee Taejin further said that the selection of the winners of the contest was based on the best result of the four major aspects, namely theme and concept, material for finishing, design and layout and the visibility of the electronic products represented by each of the LG Objet Collection.

Through their submissions, the winners were able to cope with the challenges related to harmonizing the house by utilizing the excellence that each of the LG Objet Collection brings.

“We hope that LG Objet Design Competition can promote the vision of harmonizing the modern house that the public can apply. And, at the same time, inspire the growth of other works in the future,” Lee Taejin concluded.
