uliana’s story, which covers a lot about women and their struggle for their rights, has received special attention. The sky above the city of 1001 Majid was clear that day. To be precise, on Nov. 21, Juliana, 48, who usually chases orders as an ojol (online motorbike taxi), was met in full clothing and shared her story, which is closely related to the struggle.

Known as Yuli, the mother of one started her struggle by herself, after the death of her late husband in 2011. Her daughter was able to enter college because of her hard work.

She works hard to meet her daily needs. However, six years ago, Tuli’s marriage traumatized her and her baby.

"Maybe it's because people don't have any sense, so at that time he had committed violence for the umpteenth time, even to my child," added Yuli.

Known by various nicknames, Serambi Mekaah is of Aceh origin. This is because of the strong Islamic ties to the culture of the city. To be in that kind of environment, it is quite common for issues of domestic violence and divorce to still be considered taboo. Yuli was often told by those around her to stay in her marriage. However, she chose to fight for her rights.

"In my opinion, children are number one, that is what increasingly encouraged me to end this all. I was then helped by friends to report this act of domestic violence to TP2A," said Yuli. After going through the complaint procedure, the perpetrator is investigated until reaching the detention process.

Apart from her work as an ojol, Tuli also owned a side business to sell jamu (herbal medicine) and massage therapy. While it is still small in production, she received capital for this business from PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) Mekaar four years ago.

As an inspirational customer of PNM Mekaar, Yuli was invited to the 95th Mother's Day Commemoration Roadshow on Wednesday, which was organized by PNM with the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry at the Balai Meuseuraya Aceh (BMA) Building.

The opportunity brought Yuli to meet with women’s empowerment minister I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati. Bintang expressed admiration when she saw Yuli’s courage to fight against stigma for her rights as a woman.

"The minister said she was amazed because I had the courage to fight against the domestic violence that happened to me and my child," said Yuli with a big smile, "as women we have to believe in our own strength. Because if not us, who else?" concluded Juli.

L. Dodot Patria Ary, head of the PNM Company Secretariat, explained that PNM is at the forefront in empowering women. He said PNM was always there to help women improve their economic welfare. He hopes that improving economic life will improve social and environmental conditions.

"For Indonesian women, PNM continues to help provide financial, intellectual and social capital," Dodot concluded.
