Customers praised by Jokowi for discipline in repayments

P

resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo commended the disciplined attitude of Mekaar's customers during his visit alongside State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir and Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan to 3,000 Mekaar PNM customers at the Bekasi Basketball GOR, Bekasi, West Java, on Friday.

Jokowi engaged in dialogue and emphasized the importance of Mekaar customers' discipline in repaying installments. "The profit from sales is used to pay the installments," said Arum, a Mekaar customer from Bekasi, who sells fried rice and flowers. "Well, this is very good," said Jokowi, "collecting installment payments next week will be easier and more enjoyable.”

The President's visit was his seventh, and in each visit he has consistently reminded Mekaar customers to remain honest, disciplined and hardworking. As of January, PNM had faithfully accompanied 15.2 million active customers throughout Indonesia, with 3.1 million active Mekaar customers in West Java.

"If we promise to pay on Monday, we must pay on Monday," The President stressed. "That's what we need to build, a disciplined character. If we're disciplined, we'll advance."

The Mekaar program is an empowerment program for women from underprivileged families. Through the Mekaar program, PNM provides three main types of capital for improving welfare; financial, intellectual and social.

Through the Mekaar program, Mekaar customers' mothers receive financing along with mentoring, so through empowerment processes like this, Mekaar customers' mothers can improve their business skills.
