PNM & KPPPA shine at CSW 68: Empowering women in Indonesia's microeconomic sector

T

he 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) centered around the theme "Addressing Poverty, Strengthening Institutions, and Financing with a Gender Perspective." The CSW serves as a platform to showcase Indonesia's initiatives and achievements in promoting gender equality, reducing poverty, strengthening financing and institutions with a gender perspective.

The theme of CSW 68 received special attention from PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) along with the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry (KPPPA), emphasizing the crucial role of women in the sustainability of the microeconomic wheels and sustainable development. PNM was present to support the international event with its noble mission.

Razaq Manan Ahmad, executive vice president of development and management services at PNM, attended the CSW 68 event. "PNM is one of the representatives on the world stage alongside the KPPPA through the exhibition of Indonesian textiles. PNM introduces remarkable Indonesian women who are fostered by PNM Mekaar [Fostering Prosperous Family Economies], focusing on enhancing, mentoring and empowering underprivileged women entrepreneurs engaged in SMEs who aspire to develop their businesses effectively and maximally. I hope this event serves as a stimulus for all our customers to become empowered women in family economics," said Razaq.

"We express our sincere appreciation to PNM for its contribution to this exhibition. Its firm commitment to promoting economic empowerment has played a central role in Indonesia. PNM's outstanding achievement in supporting women in the ultra-microeconomic sector is tangible evidence of its dedication to creating opportunities for female entrepreneurs. Through strategic initiatives and innovative programs, PNM has enhanced the well-being of many women, providing the necessary training and mentoring to thrive in the ultra-microeconomic sector," said Lenny Rosalin, deputy head of gender equality at the KPPPA.

PNM is a financing and mentoring institution for underprivileged women in Indonesia through the ultra-microenterprise sector. PNM not only provides business capital but also conducts various training sessions to improve product quality. To date, PNM has served 15.2 million customers across Indonesia.

In essence, PNM works for the empowerment of its customers through financing and mentoring. Financing and mentoring are two sides of the same coin that cannot be separated from each other.
