Indo Intertex 2024: Southeast Asia's largest textile expo, sustainability campaign

T

he 20th edition of the largest textile and garment exhibition in Southeast Asia is back at the Jakarta International Expo, organized by Peraga Expo together with the Indonesian Textile Association (API) and several other associations.

From March 20 to 23, 2024, INDO INTERTEX 2024 will present more than 600 companies from over 16 countries who will showcase spectacular displays of the latest technology and innovation from textile, garment and digital printing machines, raw materials, digitalization technology, textile chemicals, textile dyes, accessories and other textile products in a total area of 35,000 square meters.

“The global economic pressures in 2024 are still shrouded in uncertainty, but the government is optimistic that the Indonesian economy is resilient and the TPT [textile and textile products] industry will maintain the resilience of the Indonesian economy,” said Dr.Ir.Taufik Bawazier, M.Sc. General Director of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industry (IKTF) at the Industry Ministry.

Based on the data processed by the Industry Ministry’s Data and Information Center (Pusdatin), the textile and clothing industry has contributed 6.05 percent to the GDP of the non-oil and gas processing industry with an export value of US$6.2 billion from January to September 2023. Continuing this positive trend, in 2024 the government will again carry out its flagship machine restructuring program for textile industry business players.

The results of the evaluation of the restructuring program in 2023 showed a positive impact on the performance of industries receiving the incentive program. This can be seen from the perspective of increasing capacity, productivity, energy efficiency, employment and sales,” explained Jemmy Kartiwa Saatratmaja, general chair of the Indonesian Textile Association.

“INDO INTERTEX plays an important role for textile industry players in Indonesia because it is the only credible platform to pioneer, expand and lead the transformation of the local textile and garment sector by introducing new technology from all over the world,” stated Peraga Expo Director Paul Kingsen.

Several big names in the textile industry are participating in this year’s exhibition, including Agansa, Sigma, APR, Lenzing and many more. The technologies introduced support the concept of environmentally friendly industry.

During the exhibition period, INDO INTERTEX 2024 will also present a series of informative and educational seminars about the latest trends and technology in the textile and garment industry. The programs will be held together with associations and supporting communities who will discuss various interesting themes and topics attended by textile experts and specialists from the government, associations and exhibition participants.

To carry out a sustainability campaign involves building a framework to reduce textile waste in Indonesia. This year, INDO INTERTEX is working with the community to create a program in the form of a competition that will encourage participants – students, especially students majoring in fashion – to change the ordinary into the extraordinary using clothing materials.

There will be many other programs held in collaboration with other creative communities.

Peraga Expo expects as many as 12,000 visitors, including professionals and students, at the exhibition. Visitors can access the exhibition area for free by registering via the following link: http://indointertex.com/visitor-registration/.

It is crucial for textile industry business players to attend this event as it can increase insight into the latest trends, innovations and technologies in the textile and garment industry as well as expanding business networks through a business-to-business matchmaking program.
