The weaving study tour was held on March 6 to 8 at Gallery Arli Fashion Craft in Plumbon, Cirebon, and involved 16 PNM Mekaar outstanding group leaders from PNM branches in Banjarnegara, Bekasi, Garut, Magelang, North Kalimantan, Pati, Semarang and Solo.
"With the spirit of developing our potentials, I hope all of you will ask questions and participate actively in every activity on this study tour. Hopefully, we can all bring home valuable experiences and new inspiration for applying in each of our communities," Mukti Subarnas, Deputy Branch Manager of PNM Cirebon, said in his opening speech.
Under the guidance of Gunawan and the owner of Gallery Arli Fashion Craft, the participants made baskets using Sasag, a diagonal weaving technique that produces a strong, sturdy and attractive pattern.
The participants also went on a cultural visit to Kasepuhan Palace of the Cirebon Sultanate, where they were welcomed by the palace’s chief minister, Prince Goemelar Soeriadiningrat.
"Thank you to PNM for trusting me. Alhamdulillah [Praise be to God], I received an opportunity to participate in a study tour to Cirebon, where I received training in rattan weaving and went sightseeing," said Siti Zulaekoh, a PNM customer from Pati regency, Central Java.
PNM has been organizing study tours through its PKU program since 2022, and over 200 customers have taken part in special training programs designed for their particular business sector. #ExploreNewSteps offers a unique, hands-on way for customers to become empowered by trying out new methods and techniques to grow their business.
