he Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) has held its 2024 National Congress, a platform where hotel leaders gather, discuss and formulate strategic steps for the advancement of Indonesia’s tourism sector.
Hosted from June 6 to 7 in the Grand Ballroom of The Trans Resort Bali in Kuta, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno opened the event virtually to an audience of general managers from 24 regional IHGMA chapters across the country.
The IHGMA, the top professional association of hospitality and hotel leaders in Indonesia, is committed to empowering human resources and local wisdom for the advancement of national tourism. Since its declaration on April 20, 2016 at the Grand Inna Beach Bali, IHGMA has grow to a membership of 1,079 general managers at 24 regional chapters.
One of the key items on the 2024 National Congress agenda was to discuss the IHGMA’s existing Articles of Association and Bylaws and review the upcoming work programs toward their implementation.
In addition, this year’s IHGMA National Congress focused on redefining the concept and implementation of tourism within a new paradigm by strengthening its commitment to sustainable tourism and introducing regenerative tourism, which aims to provide tangible positive impacts by restoring ecosystems, rebuilding local communities and creating better destinations.
Through the National Congress, the internal governance and organizational journey of the IHGMA will be evaluated and consolidated to strengthen its members’ solidarity and commitment to actively serve as catalysts in strengthening competitive and competent tourism human resources, as well as to realize quality and sustainable tourism through regenerative leadership.
The event also served as the stage for electing the IHGMA president for the 2024-2027 period. Two candidates vied for the association’s top post: incumbent IHGMA president I Gede Arya Pering Arimbawa, who campaigned on the slogan "Keep Going, Keep Growing", and Yoga Iswara, with his slogan "Elevate IHGMA to the Next Level".
The IHGMA is committed to providing optimal benefits to all members and to working with stakeholders in the pentahelix model of tourism to equitably contribute to the advancement of tourism at both the national and global levels. As a professional association of hotel leaders, the IHGMA consistently emphasizes the quality of tourism practitioners in facing the ever-evolving landscape and increasingly competitive environment.
With a spirit of unity and strong cooperation, the IHGMA believes that its 2024 National Congress will serve as a crucial milestone in advancing sustainable tourism in Indonesia.
