Campaign commemorates Cataract Awareness Month with focus on eye health

T

o mark Cataract Awareness Month in June, Campaign, the start-up behind the social campaign app Campaign #ForABetterWorld, collaborated with philanthropic organization Ishk Tolaram to encourage the public to learn about eye health and how to maintain it.

The latest initiative is part of the “See For a Better World: Restoring Sight, Changing Lives #EyeCareForAll” program and uses the Campaign #ForABetterWorld app. In collaboration with various social communities that focus on eye health, the fun campaign raises public awareness of the dangers of eye disease, especially cataracts.

Dr. Rahmat Setiawan, deputy program director at Ishk Tolaram Indonesia Foundation, explained that the foundation was greatly boosted by its collaboration with Campaign.

"Apart from connecting Ishk Tolaram with various organizations that have helped, Campaign has also succeeded in raising awareness about cataracts through its digital campaign, including the fact that this disease can actually be treated," said Rahmat.

.

As part of the #EyeCareForAll campaign, Ishk Tolaram is providing free cataract surgery in collaboration with Lentera Mata Indah and the Cataract Blindness Eradication (SPBK) division of the Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association (Perdami).

Lentera Mata Indah performed free cataract surgery in May to successfully treat 750 patients in Semarang, Central Java. Meanwhile, more than 200 cataract patients benefited from the free surgery performed by SPBK Perdami on June 4 to 6 in Banggai Laut, Central Sulawesi.

“Campaign always has creative and innovative ways to organize social activities. By bringing together a company and a social community with collaborators, a social campaign can reach the wider community. Moreover, we use the #ForABetterWorld Campaign app to mobilize people for cashless donations. A New Vision, a healthcare foundation from Singapore, is a funder for this initiative" said Nabila Aulia, project lead of the #EyeCareForAll campaign.

She added that all donations would go toward helping communities in need.
