T Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) was bestowed a special award on June 13 at the Bisnis Indonesia Awards (BIA) 2024 in Jakarta, in recognition for “The Most Outstanding Microfinance Programs Empowering Women and Community Development”.
“We greatly appreciate the event organized by Bisnis Indonesia. This award boosts our motivation, showing that our efforts are expected to have a significant impact,” Prasetya said on Thursday after the BIA 2024.
Emphasizing that it was the duty of PNM to help empower underprivileged women, Prasetya noted that PNM's empowerment efforts had several levels, starting with basic empowerment at weekly group meetings, while basic literacy was provided to all attending customers.
“Then there is advanced literacy, where empowerment is conducted on a larger scale with more advanced materials, including digital education,” he explained.
Prasetya expressed his hope that through such efforts, PNM customers were able to improve their capacity continuously, including expanding their markets.
PNM is optimistic about achieving this year’s loan disbursement target of Rp 74 trillion (US$4.5 billion) through 863,000 groups nationwide.
In 2023, PNM and its subsidiaries recorded positive performance, posting a profit of Rp 1.64 trillion on Dec. 31, 2023, a 66.2 percent year-on-year (yoy) increase from Rp 992 billion over the same period in 2022.
According to the company's financial report, which was published in the Bisnis Indonesia daily newspaper on March 28, 2024, this profit growth was due to net interest and sharia income of Rp 12.3 trillion, up 20.7 percent yoy from Rp 10.2 trillion recorded on Dec. 31, 2022.
Meanwhile, the company's operating costs totaled Rp 10.6 trillion on Dec. 31, 2023, a 14.18 percent yoy increase from Rp 9.3 trillion in 2022. The company recorded equity of Rp 9.06 trillion, up 22 percent yoy from to Rp 7.4 trillion in 2022, while total liabilities stood at Rp 41.9 trillion, a 6.53 percent yoy increase from Rp 39.4 trillion on Dec. 31, 2022.
PNM's total assets were valued at Rp 51.04 trillion on Dec. 31, 2023, an 8.9 percent yoy increase from Rp 46.8 trillion in 2022. PNM had disbursed loans totaling Rp 71.2 trillion as of Dec. 31, 2023, providing active financing to 15.1 million customers.
The Bisnis Indonesia Awards (BIA) is an annual event organized by Indonesia’s leading business daily.
At this year’s event, themed “Agility in Uncertainty”, Bisnis Indonesia awarded the best-performing companies as determined by a judging panel that comprised: Wimboh Santoso, Financial Services Authority (OJK) chairman in 2017-2022; Mardiasmo, deputy finance minister in 2014-2019; Raden Pardede, 2008-2009 secretary of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK); Rudiantara, communications and information minister in 2014-2019; and Lulu Terianto, president director of PT Jurnalindo Aksara Grafika (JAG), the publisher of Bisnis Indonesia.
The BIA offers awards in two categories, non-banks and banks. The non-bank category covers sectors such as commercial construction, retail trade and telecommunications services, while the bank category covers private national banks, sharia banks as well as state-owned banks.
PNM is a financing and mentoring institution for underprivileged Indonesian women who are engaged in the ultra-micro business sector. PNM provides not only business capital but also various training programs and workshops on product quality improvement. To date, PNM has 15.2 million customers across Indonesia.
