Krista Exhibitions, GAKESLAB Indonesia brings expo catered for healthcare professionals

K

rista Exhibitions, in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Medical and Laboratory Equipment Companies (Gakeslab Indonesia), is holding the Indohealthcare Gakeslab Expo 2024 from July 31 to Aug. 2, 2024 at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Pademangan, North Jakarta.

The trade show will feature a comprehensive array of new health innovations, including medical devices needed by both public and private healthcare facilities in Indonesia, which has seen rapid growth in medical technology development over recent years.

Health service is a key pillar of national development in the government vision of "Health transformation: Accelerating toward Golden Indonesia", declared by the Health Ministry.

It is hoped that this year’s Gakeslab expo can be a forum where health companies can gather to introduce their latest medical technologies to enhance health service, enable infectious disease prevention and reduce patient mortality rates.

As it strives toward achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, the country needs advanced and up-to-date medical equipment to ensure accurate and prompt diagnosis and curative actions, which this event expects to deliver.

At a press conference on July 25, Krista Exhibitions CEO Daud D. Salim said the expo would see the attendance of at least 120 medical and laboratory companies, both domestic and foreign.

Aside from exhibiting their products, Daud said, these companies would take part in activities such as business matching and business networking specially designed to connect businesses and financial institutions with academics and researchers, as well as medical institutions, distributors, importers and suppliers. The business matching session was expected to attract around 10,000 visitors over the three-day expo.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has passed and provided valuable lessons to the world and Indonesia about its adverse impacts on all aspects of life. This has increased awareness on the importance of local products and technology transfers to enhance health resilience and promote equitable access to medicines and medical devices,” Gakeslab Indonesia chairman Kartono Dwidjosewojo told reporters at the same press conference.

He added that Gakeslab Indonesia was committed to supporting the Health Ministry’s program and health system resilience as its third pillar by holding the Indohealthcare Gakeslab Expo 2024, themed “National forum on building an integrated, resilient medical device ecosystem in Indonesia, from the upstream to downstream”.

Kartono also expressed his hope that Gakeslab’s collaboration with the finance and health ministries would help reduce the price of medical equipment so it was more accessible to all health facilities and professionals.

Daud added that while this year’s expo also included herbal medicines, these would be kept to a minimum in line with the event’s aim to highlight technological advancements in the health care industry, though both he and Kartono acknowledged the growing popularity of herbal medicines among the public as a health option.

The Gakeslab expo 2024 would also not feature any exhibits on medical tourism, he added.

Meanwhile, the event would host discussions on noninfectious diseases such as cancers, diabetes, stroke, urological and heart diseases that were prevalent in the country, as well as related topics such as enhancing primary and referral health services in the era of national health insurance and access to innovative medical devices.

Other discussions would cover industry issues such as ensuring medical device quality from the premarket to the post-market, and increasing potential cooperation in the medical device sector to build Indonesia’s health sovereignty and resilience.

The Indohealthcare Gakeslab Expo 2024 is supported by state institutions including the Health Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry and the Trade Ministry in collaboration with Gakeslab, as well as professional medical organizations and industry associations.

The expo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jakarta time to professionals, businesses and the general public, excepting visitors aged 14 and under, who may not enter the main exhibition area. Online registration is available via this link, while invitees of Krista Exhibitions can register directly upon arriving at the expo.
