P

ertamina president director Nicke Widyawati, along with Indonesian Military (TNI) chief of staff Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak, are working together to provide assistance to the residents of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This assistance was given to the residents located in Manusak Village in East Kupang on July 30.

The provision of assistance, as part of Pertamina's Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program, is collaborates with the TNI on aid including the construction of 102 livable houses (RTLH), 50 solar powered lighting units and 20 units of clean water facilities. Meanwhile, the progress of the construction of RTLH in 18 provinces has been completed in one location, with 101 locations still under construction. The progress of clean water facilities in six provinces has been completed in nine locations, with 11 locations still in progress. As for solar power-based lighting, all infrastructure is still being shipped to the provinces of Papua and West Papua.

Pertamina’s Nicke revealed that the collaboration with the TNI was to build facilities needed by the community. Thus, this assistance can enhance the economic activity of the community in each area. Nicke also stated that this was part of Pertamina’s commitment through these programs.

“We are very pleased to be able to collaborate with the TNI. We see how the construction of livable houses and the provision of clean water are already in place, and this brings us great joy because the community is very enthusiastic. Since water is a source of life, it is not only for daily needs but we have also seen it being used for planting corn and onions. Our commitment is to support more programs like this. Please keep us in your thoughts so that Pertamina’s business activities continue smoothly, allowing us to provide even more,” she said.

The TNI’s Maruli hoped that the collaboration between the TNI and Pertamina would continue, so that more people can be helped with clean water and decent housing.

“This is a joint activity with the community, and we have received support from Pertamina. We hope this program can continue in the future. Hopefully, this can be noticed by other state-owned enterprises [SOEs], not only in NTT but in all regions of Indonesia. We have already provided nearly 400,000 units of water here and have started focusing on livable houses. Additionally, we have begun providing water for agriculture and solar-powered lighting for the community. We hope things continue to improve,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries of the RTLH, Paul De Costa, expressed his thanks to the TNI and Pertamina for the assistance provided. He and his family are happy to receive their new home.

“Thank you to Mr. chief of staff and Mrs. president director. Thank you very much because we in the East have not received assistance for a long time, and now we finally have a house like this. Thank you,” he concluded.

Pertamina Corporate Communication VP Fadjar Djoko Santoso added that Pertamina’s cooperation with the TNI demonstrated Pertamina's commitment to achieving sustainable community targets. “Pertamina has a TJSL program aimed at public interests. We hope that the TJSL programs will play a role in advancing the welfare and health of the Indonesian people,” explained Fadjar.

This assistance was also attended by Kupang acting regent Alexon Lumba, Pertamina chief commissioner Simon Aloysius Mantiri, Pertamina independent commissioner Alexander Lay, Pertamina independent commissioner Condro Kirono, Pertamina independent commissioner Iggi H. Achsien, Pertamina corporate secretary Brahmantya S Poerwadi, and Pertamina HSSE SVP Lelin Eprianto.
