NM continues to inspire the public to care for, protect and preserve Indonesia’s flora and fauna through its “PNM Peduli” initiative, part of the company’s social and environmental responsibility program.
As of October 2024, PNM has made significant environmental contributions by planting 286,461 trees of various species, as well as coral reef restoration efforts. The success of the “PNM Peduli” program in biodiversity conservation is thanks to collaborations with numerous partners. This commitment aligns with PNM’s focus on supporting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is part of the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework.
PNM’s CEO, Arief Mulyadi, encourages all Indonesians to celebrate National Flora and Fauna Appreciation Day on Nov. 5 by engaging in sustainable natural resource and environmental management activities.
“Our efforts support the government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions. Beyond that, some of the plants we cultivate also benefit underprivileged families,” Arief explained.
PNM has planted various crops, such as fruit trees and chili plants, whose produce can be directly utilized. Additionally, certain trees can provide an extra source of income for local communities.
“Harvests from fruit and vegetable trees or timber can be consumed by residents. If the yield is abundant, it can be sold, providing additional income. This also allows for a more diverse range of products from PNM Mekaar customers near planting sites,” he added.
PNM’s commitment goes beyond financing and extends to continuous assistance, helping ultra-micro businesses grow sustainably. This ongoing support and guidance sets PNM apart from other financial institutions, fostering empowerment within ultra-micro enterprises.
