eputy Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms Minister Purwadi Arianto has underscored the critical role of transparency in the implementation of bureaucratic reform.

According to Purwadi, public access to information on bureaucratic performance will enable citizens to monitor government activities directly.

"Four work units within the [ministry] play a significant role in designing and implementing policies for bureaucratic reform to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of public services. This includes improving service quality, streamlining bureaucratic processes, managing civil servants, restructuring institutions and upholding the principles of good governance," he said during a visit by the Public Information Transparency Monitoring and Evaluation Team in Jakarta on Thursday.

Purwadi said the reforms ministry had made significant strides in public information transparency through innovations leveraging advanced digital platforms to reach broader audiences, particularly millennials. Collaborative efforts had also been undertaken to strengthen the quality of information disseminated.

"Transparency in public information can be further advanced through digitalization, particularly in providing services to the public. Information about bureaucracy is becoming more accessible with the implementation of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE)," he said.

The former head of the National Police Education and Training Institute expressed confidence that transparency trends would improve with the widespread implementation of the SPBE.

"As the SPBE continues to be accelerated by the [reforms ministry], I believe transparency will improve across all levels of government," he added.

Meanwhile, acting secretary of the reforms ministry, Erwan Agus Purwanto, said the ministry's transparency strategies aligned consistently with its 2020-2024 strategic plan. Various strategic initiatives had been implemented to achieve the goal of integrated and transparent public information services.

One of the ministry's flagship programs, Bisa Tanya (You Can Ask), serves as a medium for public information transparency. This platform helps stakeholders of the ministry better understand its policies, featuring interactive Q&A sessions to optimize public information services.

"Since the introduction of the Bisa Tanya program, the number of in-person visits to the [reforms ministry] has decreased 17-fold. This reduction contributes to potential budget savings for ministries, agencies and regional governments that would otherwise incur travel expenses. These savings can be redirected to initiatives that directly impact public services, such as poverty alleviation and stunting prevention," Erwan noted.

Deputy chairman of the Central Information Commission (KIP), Arya Sandhiyuda, praised the reforms ministry for its continuous innovations to enhance public access to information. Arya highlighted that the ministry's efforts could serve as a model for other government institutions and public bodies.

"We emphasize that the KIP is not a competition. Instead, we aim for informative ministries and agencies to become role models for others. This way, public information transparency across all state institutions and public bodies can be optimized," he said.

Similarly, Rospita Vici Paulyn, KIP commissioner for research and documentation, acknowledged the ministry's consistent efforts to promote internal public information transparency through KIP policies, infrastructure and regular online and offline information services. She expressed hope that the reforms ministry would share its strategic initiatives with other institutions and stakeholders.
