SJM Resorts Jakarta Seminar 2024 showcases Macau's vibrant tourism attractions SJM’s management team inaugurate the seminar alongside Indonesian travel industry representatives.

Macau-based SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM) continues to lead efforts in promoting Macau and expanding its global visitor base.

Along with supporting the Macao Government Tourism Office’s (MGTO) initiatives, SJM hosted the SJM Resorts, S.A. Jakarta Product Seminar 2024 to promote Macau’s diverse tourism offerings including its own premier resort, hotels and tourism products.

Held in Jakarta on Dec. 10, the event is the latest stop in SJM’s “The Legend of Macau” travel trade series, which included seminars in key markets such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Taiwan, Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo and Malaysia.

SJM managing director Daisy Ho noted that Indonesia is Macau’s fourth-largest international source market and a key focus within Southeast Asia.

Following the company’s product seminar last year and participation in the “Experience Macau” Indonesian roadshow in May, the seminar provided an opportunity to further deepen local awareness of Macau’s diverse tourism offerings and strengthen SJM’s partnerships with local industry stakeholders.

“With a 33 percent year-on-year increase in visitors from Indonesia in the first three quarters of 2024, we are excited to present SJM’s world-class tourism products to this high-potential market. From luxury resorts to a vibrant calendar of cultural, festive and culinary events in the coming months, we look forward to welcoming more Indonesian friends to enjoy the full spectrum of Macau’s unique charm and cultural heritage,” said Daisy.

Before the product seminar, SJM participated as the exclusive resort sponsor at the renowned “Prestige Indonesia Gala Event” on Dec. 4. This prestigious gathering, attended by close to 700 celebrities and high-profile figures from Jakarta, served as an ideal platform for showcasing Macau and SJM to the elite traveler community in the region.

During the seminar, which was attended by approximately 100 participants from local travel agencies, airlines, MICE planners and corporate clients, SJM introduced a selection of exclusive packages, offering participants one-stop access to unique accommodation, wedding and MICE options.

Attendees learned about hotel packages, such as the “Palazzo Versace Macau Experience Package” and packages that include transportation service between Macau and Hong Kong, such as the “Escape-to-Macau Package” for Grand Lisboa Palace Macau and The Karl Lagerfeld Macau.

The “Joyous Family Package” comes with the chance to board the SJM x Macau Cruise, where visitors can capture the city’s beautiful vistas and take in the cultural and heritage sights of Macau from a unique vantage point.

Meanwhile, couples looking to tie the knot can take advantage of enticing wedding packages that feature a 12 percent rebate, Rolls-Royce limousine service and a honeymoon trip worth up to MOP 63,388 (US$7,942).

Business travelers can take part in the “Meet in Style” privileges at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau which ensures a comprehensive and seamless MICE experience. SJM also introduced the welcome perks and exclusive membership benefits of the SJM Supreme Card and Air Macau boarding pass offers.

In addition, guests who book accommodation packages through designated travel agencies (Top Holidays – P&E International Travel Co., Ltd. and Tiket.com among others) from Dec. 10 to 27 will receive complimentary room upgrades.

Luxury stays redefined

Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, SJM’s flagship property, harmoniously blends Eastern and Western elements with luxurious accommodations, exceptional international dining, rejuvenating spa treatments, premium shopping options and captivating cultural and entertainment experiences.

Located in the vibrant Cotai area, it is the only resort in Macau to feature two internationally designer-branded hotels: The world’s first and only The Karl Lagerfeld Macau and Asia’s first Palazzo Versace Macau, alongside the elegant Grand Lisboa Palace Macau.

Highlights include the Instagram-worthy The Book Lounge at The Karl Lagerfeld Macau, inspired by the private library in the fashion legend’s Paris mansion, and the La Scala del Palazzo, which evokes the grand staircase of the Palazzo Versace at Via Gesù in Milan.

Also under SJM’s portfolio is the prestigious Grand Lisboa Macau, another Forbes five-star property located in the heart of the Macau peninsula. A gastronomic haven, the hotel is home to Robuchon au Dôme, the only restaurant in Macau to hold three Michelin stars for 16 consecutive years, while its other dining venues have similarly garnered prestigious awards, including Michelin Awards, diamonds from the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide and Wine Spectator accolades.

Meanwhile, the Jai Alai Hotel provides an impressive range of leisure and entertainment facilities, while also conveniently connected with the Outer Harbour Ferry terminal for those seeking easy transportation options.

Both heritage and innovation blend seamlessly under SJM’s parent entity Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau, S.A. (STDM), which includes Macau’s first five-star Hotel Lisboa, the strategically located Hotel Sintra near Macau’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, the culturally rich Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau and the unique beachfront hotel Grand Coloane Resort.

Engaging experiences

SJM offers an extensive range of “tourism + education” experiences suitable for Indonesian travelers of all ages.

At Grand Lisboa Palace, the Martial Arts Arena combines virtual reality with real-life movements to present the richness of Chinese martial arts in an interactive and dynamic setting, while AI Wonderland uses advanced artificial intelligence technology to deliver engaging educational experiences through interactive games and classes.

Guests can also immerse themselves in the vibrant schedule of art workshops in GLP Arte and enjoy the cultural and artistic appeal of Macau.

Festive celebrations await

In the upcoming months, SJM will host a series of exciting events to celebrate the festive season and beyond. The “Snoopy Winter Holidays” themed installations at Grand Lisboa Palace will spread festive cheer with special editions for Christmas and Lunar New Year, bringing to life heartwarming scenes from the beloved comic.

Another festive highlight is the “SJM presents: Macau Art City - Naked Ocean” exhibition, running from Dec. 19 to March 16, 2025 to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region. At the immersive light and shadow art exhibition set against a vibrant underwater world, guests will encounter breathtaking representations of Macau’s iconic landmarks, stunning natural scenery and SJM facilities, offering a fresh perspective on the city as a vibrant crossroads of Eastern and Western cultures.

Additionally, SJM is co-presenting the “FORTUNE REALMS: Pop-Up Museum of Chinese Culture & Arts (Macau Station)” and “Echoes to the Legacy of Chinese Tradition; Nurturing our Cultural Memories” at Grand Lisboa Palace from Dec. 12 to Feb. 9, 2025. Building on the rich lineage of Chinese cultural heritage, the art installations highlight the transformation and development of China’s traditional culture through time.

Moving forward, SJM will continue to fully support the Macau SAR tourism initiatives, showcasing Macau’s diverse “Tourism+” offerings and multicultural appeal, encouraging Indonesian visitors to gain a fresh appreciation of its culture and heritage while reinforcing the city’s status as a world center of tourism and leisure.
