ctivists have slammed a decision by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) supervisory board to drop an ethics probe against Lili Pintauli Siregar after she resigned from the KPK deputy chairperson post.
Lili was reported to the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas KPK) for allegedly receiving gratuities in the form of hotel stays and flight tickets to attend the MotoGP’s Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia in March in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara.
The board had opened an investigation into the matter, but decided to drop any potential sanctions against Lili following her resignation.
Anti-graft watchdogs call for the investigation to continue.
“Regardless of her status now, the allegations against her happened when she was a KPK deputy. To call off the case now means that it will be difficult to bring Lili, and the other parties who provided her with the gratification, to justice,” coordinator for the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW), Adnan Topan Husodo, said on Monday.
Dewas KPK announced on Monday that her resignation has been formalized through a presidential decree.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his administration, Adnan said, were also partly at fault for accepting Lili’s resignation that became the basis of Dewas KPK’s decision to call off the case.
