Anies Baswedan's campaign team has confirmed that no one was injured or killed in a traffic accident in Aceh on Sunday that involved three cars in the presidential candidate's convoy and another vehicle.
ndra Charismiadji, a spokesman of the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar campaign team, said no one was hurt in a four-car collision that occurred on Sunday in Aceh.
"Everyone's condition is OK and safe, alhamdulillah [praise be to God]," Indra said on Sunday, as quoted by cnnindonesia.com.
The accident occurred a day before Anies and his team were scheduled to begin their campaign tour in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, after finishing their Aceh tour.
The convoy was passing Paya Demam Dua village in Pante Bidari district, East Aceh regency, en route to a campaign venue on Sunday afternoon, when a Toyota Hiace toward the back braked suddenly and was rear-ended by the Toyota Kijang Innova behind it, causing minor damage to the two minivans.
Shortly afterwars, a double-cabin pickup carrying the police’s Mobile Brigade (Brimob) security detail swerved right to avoid crashing into the rear of the Kijang Innova, and instead collided into a Mitsubishi truck driving in the opposing lane.
"Because of its extremely close distance to the truck, the double-cabin pickup was knocked back and then collided into the truck's front right [corner]," said chief Sr. Comr. Muhammad Iqbal Alqudusy, chief of the Aceh Police’s traffic unit, as quoted by detik.com.
Billy David Nerotumilena, another campaign spokesman, confirmed that no one was injured or killed in the accident.
