Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo spent a night at a resident’s house during his campaign in Wonosobo, Central Java, where he listened to locals’ aspirations and enjoyed the region’s traditional dishes of tempe kemul and boiled cassava.
residential candidate Ganjar Pranowo tried traditional food and listened to the people’s aspirations while staying at a resident’s house in Wonosobo, Central Java, on Sunday.
"The meal was boiled cassava and tempe kemul, a specialty of Wonosobo," said Ganjar as quoted by Antara on Monday.
Tempe kemul is a fried snack made from tempeh coated with batter made of rice, wheat or tapioca flour and chives. The word kemul is derived from the Javanese word for blanket.
Ganjar was seen leaving the house at 7:30 a.m. and greeted other locals in Wonosobo’s Bojasari village, Kertek district.
The former governor of Central Java was later seen entering one of the residents' houses and having a chat.
Ganjar shared his experience of hearing many aspirations and stories about the locals’ daily lives while staying overnight in the resident’s house.
"We mainly talked about daily conditions because the ustad [Islamic scholar] whose house I stayed in, told me about the condition of the local community and schools,” he said.
