T

he Bali International Film Festival, also known as Balinale, is back again this year and set to present over 100 films from 31 countries.

Slated for Sept. 24 to 30, the event will be held at Cinemaxx Lippo Mall Kuta in Bali and the outdoor area of Jl. Kartika Plaza.

"In previous years, we featured movies that have a common theme, such as the environment or women. But in this 10th installment, our theme is ‘No Boundaries’," said Balinale founder Balinale Deborah Gabinetti in Jakarta on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co, adding that the festival wanted to promote art as a medium that surpassed limits and becomes a bridge that closes the gap between communities worldwide. "There will be several categories presented, such as Sneak Peek screening, which is important to promote local film industry to foreign filmmakers," said Gabinetti.

The festival is also scheduled to feature workshops, seminars and discussions. "This is the opportunity for local filmmakers to meet other filmmakers from around the world," said Gabinetti. (kha/kes)
