More than 11,000 visitors flocked to the two-day diecast expo held since Saturday in Balai Kartini in South Jakarta.
Held annually since two years ago, the 2016 Indonesia Diecast Expo featured new activities to attract more visitors, like a playground area and a diecast racing competition for children, in addition to its regular diecast auction for which items were donated by collectors.

On the first day, three custom diecast models reportedly sold for Rp 12.7 million (US$973), while an official Mini Cooper event car, scale 1:64 of series number 01, broke the record by being auctioned for Rp 8.5 million. Last year the highest price paid for one diecast model at that scale was Rp 7.2 million. In total, Rp 3 billion in transactions were made during the expo.
During the opening ceremony, the expo also launched a diecast magazine that is said to be the first and only one in the country. "This magazine aims to accommodate the needs of diecast world that has been growing across Indonesia for some time," said the magazine's editor in chief, Feldani Effendi. (fmn/kes)
