he London School of Public Relations (LSPR) Choir came out as the Grand Champion at the fifth Canta Al Mar Festival Internaciaonal held in Callela, Spain, on Oct. 18-27.
Initiated by choir festival organizer Interkultur, the competition was attended by 50 groups from 25 countries.
LSPR Choir took home gold medals in pop, folklore and jazz categories by presenting new concepts, particularly in the folklore category, which set them apart from their competitors.
“For the folklore category, inspired by the spirit of Sumpah Pemuda [Youth Pledge], we chose the nation’s struggle as the theme and presented it through story and songs,” LSPR-Jakarta deputy director Imanuel Hutagalung said in a press release. “We performed the story by incorporating certain properties like red and white spears, shields and Indonesian flag."
