usician Ahmad Dhani and his wife Mulan Jameela made an appearance at the Pandang Istana Negara park in Central Jakarta as part of Friday’s rally. The couple were dressed in white, similar to most other protesters.
The rally is being held to demand the criminal prosecution of incumbent gubernatorial candidate Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama for alleged blasphemy.

Prior to the rally, the Bekasi vice-regent candidate stated that he would not be giving a speech, “I am participating to organize Habib Rizieq’s sound system,” he said.
However, tempo.com reported that Dhani finally came up on stage after being encouraged by the other protesters. “My friends, during the Sumber Waras and Jakarta land reclamation cases Ahok was defended by the government and we were silent. But we shouldn’t be silent about this blasphemy case,” he said through a speaker.
Dhani then said that if the government defended an idiotic governor then the government was also idiotic. Following the short speech, Dhani asked the protesters to pray and returned to his group. (jes/kes)
