ndonesian duo Senyawa is set to hold its first local solo concert, titled the “Senyawa – Konser Tanah + Air” (Senyawa – Earth + Water concert) on Dec. 22 at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (GKJ).
“Senyawa-Konser Tanah + Air is an opportunity to fully watch their performance in a solo concert, especially because Senyawa has only had the chance to perform here,” Ferry Darmawan, program director of promoter G Production said in an official statement.
In the concert, the name of which was formed by combining Tanah and Air, two of Senyawa’s songs, the duo is expected to show its signature combination of Rully Shabara’s vocals and Wukir Suryadi’s instrumentals.

The group is known for its “experimental, modern, intense and very primal” music since it was formed in 2010. For example, Rully melodically imitated and transformed the sounds of animals in a musical performance in Jakarta last April. Rully’s vocals complimented Wukir’s visually striking, unique and self-customized bambuwukir, a bamboo instrument that can produce both string and percussion sounds.
Once an underground act in Yogyakarta, Senyawa has now expanded their activities to other parts of the world, which includes their recent performance at Asian Meeting Festival (AMF) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Tickets for “Senyawa – Konser Tanah + Air” are available for purchase and priced at Rp 125,000 (US$9.4) until Dec. 21 or Rp 175,000 on the spot. (asw)
