Four Indonesian designers wowed the crowd at a fashion event in Posthoornkerk in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Sunday.
At the 2016 Indonesia Cultural Fashion (ICF) event, Terry Putri, Lily Mariasari, Riza Rozana and Inne Rachma Hardjanto presented the diversity of Indonesian culture through their designs, reported tempo.co.
The Territory collection by Terry Putri, for instance, features Sasirangan fabric from South Kalimantan. “This collection aims to give options to the Europe fashion market, especially in daily wear that is edgy and comfortable with the uniqueness of Indonesian fabric,” said Terry. “It’s time for Indonesian fashion brands to break into the European market. All local brands have the same opportunity to present their works at various fashion events, so they can go international.”

Meanwhile, under her ELEMWE label, Lily Mariasari presented ready-to-wear Muslim attire that embraces Betawi batik with its bright colors. She also combines various fabrics in her collection, such as chiffon, tulle and taffeta.
At the same time, Riza Rozana’s Sun Summit collection from her brand Rizaro impressed on the runway with sporty, ethnic Muslim wear and a touch of Minangkabau. She also incorporates Tanah Like batik, Makassar silk, Kalimantan embroidery and sequins into her designs.
Lastly, Inne Rachma Hardjanto’s Uemara label delivered simple yet elegant hijabs made of silk and chiffon. (wir/kes)
