he Harry Potter franchise and Beauty and the Beast star Emma Watson will be taking legal action in the wake of the alleged theft and leak of her private photos.
“Photos from a clothes fitting Emma had with a stylist a couple of years ago have been stolen,” said Watson’s publicist as quoted by The Guardian. “They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further.”
Watson is the latest celebrity to be involved in a public photo leak, and the confirmation of legal involvement follows the recent sentencing of Edward Majerczyk, the 29-year-old who hacked the phone of Jennifer Lawrence, as well as others.

The hack comes after Watson recently came under fire for her Vanity Fair feature that included a picture of what many considered to be revealing and a betrayal of what she stands for as a United Nations ambassador for women. In retaliation, Watson told The Guardian “it just always reveals to me how many misconceptions and what a misunderstanding there is about what feminism is. Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, it’s about equality. I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it. It’s very confusing.”
Watson has previously been threatened with a leak in wake of her speech at the United Nations relating to gender equality. “I knew it was a hoax, I knew the pictures didn’t exist,” Watson is quoted as saying at the time. “The minute I stepped up and talked about women’s rights I was immediately threatened, within less than 12 hours I was receiving threats.” (sul/kes)
