oted diecast customizer Christ Stangler has created “The King Returns”, limited edition toys that were inspired by Prabu Siliwangi of the Pakuan Pajajaran kingdom (now West Java) and sultan Hasanuddin of the Gowa kingdom (now South Sulawesi).

Stangler used two different cars for this limited edition, namely the Volkswagen Drag Bus and the Datsun 510 Wagon. Only 25 pieces of each version are available, making a total of 100 car toys.

"The history says Indonesia was formerly made up of different kingdoms. Those days, the archipelago gained respect from neighboring countries because of the kings,” Stangler said in a press statement. “I hope that by showcasing [the kings], people will be reminded of the glory days of Indonesia at that time, especially among diecast lovers.”

Stangler is no stranger to diecast lovers. He started customizing the toys in 1992 and has created more than 8,000. According to a press release, Stangler only needed a month to finish “The King Returns” edition and collectors will be able to enjoy them starting in March.

The managing director of Diecast Indonesia magazine, Feldani Effendy, who serves as the distributor of the limited edition, said that the VW Drag Bus would be on offer for Rp 1 million (US$75.20), while the Datsun 510 Wagon was on offer for Rp 800,000. (yan)
