The 2017 Bandung Drawing Festival is showcasing hundreds of artworks by 37 local artists using lines and dots.
The 2017 Bandung Drawing Festival is slated to run until July 5 at the NuArt Sculpture Park in Bandung, West Java.
It is showcasing hundreds of artworks by 37 local artists using lines and dots.
The artists used different techniques and mediums when making their artworks, such as colored pencils, charcoal, ballpoint pens and markers.
Windi Apriani, a graduate of the visual arts and design school at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), is one of the artists participating in the event and is showcasing works that she used a combination of ballpoint pens and oil-based paint to create. On a 200 by 150 centimeter canvas, she drew lines forming a mirror, a wooden chair and textiles hanging in the back of a room.

Meanwhile, Indarto Agung used markers to draw lines on acrylics. Entitled Batu Rahtawu (Rahtawu Rock), Indarto created six drawings that feature an arrangement of rocks and terraces in Kudus regency, Central Java.
The festival's curator, Rikrik Kusmara, said the event was initiated by local artist Angga Atmadilaga, who held a similar festival two years ago.
In addition to the exhibition, the festival is also hosting several workshops, including on watercolor portraits, 3D drawing, digital drawing, comic strips and collaborative drawing. (jes/kes)
