s the market for virtual reality (VR) grows bigger, Disney and Nokia have announced their partnership to bring Star Wars: The Last Jedi to VR.
Announced on Monday, the multi-year deal has Nokia filming Star Wars VR content for Disney and Lucasfilm with their new OZO VR camera. Nokia, a Finnish communications and information technology company, will provide OZO cameras -- up to US$45,000 a piece -- in addition to software support.
"Utilizing the Nokia OZO to capture our behind-the-scenes material allows viewers to be transported to fantastical locations and virtually visit the incredible sets where their favorite Star Wars scenes were captured," said Lucasfilm head of franchise creative and asset management, Brian Miller, in a statement.

Disney has utilized OZO for VR before, for tie-ins for films The Jungle Book, Pete's Dragon, and Alice Through the Looking Glass.
The VR version of Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be Nokia and Disney’s first collaboration. It does not have a release date yet.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters this December. (sul/kes)
