he second week of Ramadhan has begun. Last week we listed several options for iftar (breaking-of-the-fast meal) in Menteng. For the second week of Ramadhan, The Jakarta Post has listed five restaurants for iftar on Jl. Gunawarman.

Located near the Sudirman Central Business District in South Jakarta, establishments on Jl. Gunawarman provide many options for iftar with friends and family during the work week and on weekends.

Turkuaz 

Turkuaz, a Turkish restaurant on Jl.Gunawarman offers signature Ottoman cuisine made by head chef Sezai Zorlu. This Ramadhan, the restaurant offers succulent baby lamb baked in salt as its special menu item for iftar to share among 10 to 15 people. You can enjoy the delicacy for Rp 3.9 million++ , but remember to place an order at least two to three days ahead. Turkuaz also offers two set menus comprising appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Price starts from Rp 275.000++.

Those who want to dine in private at Turkuaz may want to choose to book the Tulip private room (eight-10 people) or the Sultan private room (14-16 people), which requires  minimum spending of Rp 5 million++ for right people and Rp 10 million++ for 14 people, respectively. Additional seats cost Rp 625,000++ per person.

Holy Crab

Crab lovers may consider breaking the fast at Holy Crab Gunawarman. The Lousiana-inspired seafood restaurant offers packages that can be enjoyed by four to 10 people, with choices ranging from local boys (local ingredients), Big Easy to Alaskans package. The local package includes dishes, such as mud crab, shrimp, clam, deep fried calamari, onion rings, deep fried chicken wings, crispy fish finger, sweet potato balls, steamed rice, fried bread and desserts. Prices for the packages start from Rp 875,000 for four people.

Sofia at The Gunawarman 

Sofia at The Gunawarman luxury residences offers nasi campur for two on its iftar menu. The menu, set at Rp 250,000++ for two persons, includes ayam goreng lengkuas (galangal fried chicken), sate lilit (minced meat satay), telur balado (egg with balado sambal), ikan asin balado (salted fish with balado sambal), tempe orek (tempeh with soy sauce), urap sayur (vegetable salad with grated coconut), as well as takjil (breaking-of-the-fast snacks). Those who want to visit the restaurant in a group may consider booking the VIP table, which consists of 12 seats with a minimum spending requirement of Rp 8 million++.

Ayam Goreng Tulang Lunak Hayam Wuruk 

Ayam Goreng Tulang Lunak Hayam Wuruk, a restaurant that features ayam presto (chicken cooked with high pressure) as its signature menu item does not offer a special menu for Ramadhan. But, patrons can still visit the restaurant for iftar to enjoy its many Indonesian dishes on offer. Aside from ayam presto, the restaurant also serves ayam goreng telur asin, bandeng presto dalam sarang, gurame goreng terbang and more.

Attarine Jakarta 

This Ramadhan, Attarine Jakarta, a restaurant by The Potato Head family, is partnering with architect Andra Matin in creating a Mediterranean-inspired installation, as well as two special Ramadhan menus: set menu A, comprising rotating weekly takjil selection, crispy chicken leg and lentil rice, ice cream or sorbet, as well as set menu B, comprising  rotating weekly takjil selection, slow-cooked short ribs and vanilla pannacotta. Set menu A costs Rp 275,000++ and set menu B costs Rp 325,000++. (asw)
