oogle Maps, a mapping service developed by tech giant Google, added a new feature on Thursday to make life easier for people traveling in a wheelchair.
On the company's blog, Google Maps project managers Shiva Thiagarajan and Rio Akasaka said that the feature was for those who are passionate about helping others to better navigate and explore the city.

The Google Maps app on Android now allows users to share information about places that have wheelchair access. On the main menu, tap “Your Contributions”, followed by “Uncover missing info” under the “Improve the map near you” section. Then choose “Accessibility” to find places around you that are lacking certain information. On the “Accessibility” tab, users can enter information on wheelchair-accessible entrances, wheelchair-accessible elevators, wheelchair-accessible seating and wheelchair-accessible parking.
In addition to accessibility, users can also help verify the facts that people suggested about nearby places by choosing "Check the facts" in the section "Improve the map near you".
According to Engadget, Google Maps introduced wheelchair accessibility information in December last year, but it has now added options for users themselves to provide information. However, the "Improve the map near you" section is currently still in beta version. (kes)
