etflix in collaboration with Toei Animation is set to remake one of Japanese legendary manga, Saint Seiya, according to the US-based streaming service's announcement on Wednesday.

The anime, which ran between 1986 and 1989, reportedly would come to life in computer graphics (CG) anime.

Titled Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya, the remake narrates the adventure of young warriors called the Knights of the Zodiac, who are the protectors of the reincarnated Greek goddess Athena. Each wear powerful armor based on their chosen zodiac constellation, the knights helped Athena fight against Olympian gods who seek to destroy the humankind.

According to Anime News Network, the series will be helmed by Yoshiharu Ashino and consist of 12 episodes with the duration of 30 minutes each. No release date has been announced but manga fans can expect to enjoy it in the near future. 

In addition to Saint Seiya, Netflix also announced other upcoming anime shows, namely Devilman Crybaby that will be launched globally in spring 2018, Rilakkuma Series and Fate/Apocrypha that are slated for premiere in late 2017. (kes)
