T

he crowd at pop-electronic-dance music festival "We The Fest" at JIExpo in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, went wild when President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo popped in on Friday.

Jokowi's attendance was reportedly not scheduled in the official presidential agenda. The mostly young festival-goers were ecstatic to see him, and some yelled requests for a selfie with the President.

Accompanied by Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki and wearing a casual long-sleeved top, Jokowi only smiled while pointing his hand at the VIP stage at the location.

At the VIP guest tent, Jokowi was seen talking to several people while enjoying a plate of nasi goreng.

According to kompas.com, the President previously attended an event with volunteers donning batik, that also took place at JIExpo. Afterwards, he went into a car that was about to leave the area, but later entered the JIExpo again after exiting the car wearing the long-sleeved grey-and-dark blue top reading "We The Fest".

The President stayed for almost two hours at the event, which featured performances by several international stars, such as Shura, Charli XCX and Kodaline. He could be seen moving his head and tapping his fingers on the table, enjoying the music.

"In my era we had Led Zeppelin, Nazareth, Judas Priest and Metallica. It was a different time back then. That's why I want to see [We The Fest]," he said. "The last [performance I saw] was Kodaline; they looked a lot like The Police [in my opinion]."

He added that he thought the music was good. (kes)
