apanese actor Kora Kengo is said to attend the opening of the 2017 Japanese Film Festival on Nov. 2 at CGV Grand Indonesia in Central Jakarta.
Kengo will be accompanied by the festival's ambassador Chelsea Islan.
Set to be inaugurated by Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Ishii Masafumi, the five-day event will start with a screening of The Story of Yonosuke. The 2013 film, which was recognized with Blue Ribbon Awards, Mainichi Film Awards and Japan Film Professional Awards in 2014, tells the story of huge economic changes in society following a rise of the middle-class by up to 100 million people.

A total of 17 films as well as three Studio Ghibli flicks are scheduled to be screened at the festival, including A Story of Yonosuke, Her Love Boils Bathwater, Torasan of Goto, ReLIFE, Honnouji Hotel, Survival Family, Daytime Shooting Star, My Uncle, Before We Vanish, Chibi Maruko-chan: A Boy From Italy, Drowning Love, Long Excuse , Asian Three-Fold Mirror 2016: Reflections, MUMON: The Land of Stealth, Memoirs of a Murderer, Harmonium, Good Stripes, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Ponyo.
In addition to Jakarta, the screenings will also be held in Denpasar, Yogyakarta and Makassar. (kes)
