Indonesia among Asia Pacific countries with slowest internet connection

ndonesia is said to be one of the countries in Asia Pacific with the slowest internet connection, according to a report by Speedtest Global Index.
The index, initiated by US-based internet testing and analysis company Ookla, compares internet speed data worldwide on a monthly basis.
According to kompas.com, the comparison is based on one year of data gathered since November 2016, with the results being divided into two categories: the average mobile and fixed broadband speeds.

In the mobile speed category, Indonesia is ranked 106th with a 9.73 Mbps (megabits per second) download speed and a 7.6 Mbps upload speed, which is four points lower than the previous index. It is also lower than other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Brunei (9.83 Mbps), the Philippines (12.35 Mbps), Cambodia (14.97 Mbps), Malaysia (15.64 Mbps), Vietnam (19.54 Mbps) and Singapore (51.5 Mbps).
Topping the mobile speed list was Norway with 62.66 Mbps, followed by the Netherlands (53.01 Mbps) and Iceland (52.78 Mbps).
Meanwhile in the fixed broadband speed category, Indonesia was placed 93rd with a 13.38 Mbps download speed and an upload speed of 7.5 Mbps. One of the archipelago's closest neighbors, Singapore, led the category with 153.85 Mbps.
Indonesia also falls behind other Asian countries, such as the Philippines (14.42 Mbps), India (18.82 Mbps), Malaysia (22.26 Mbps) and Vietnam (24.85 Mbps). (wir/kes)
