According to research from Shahid Sadoughi University in Yazd, Iran, chocolate milk contains carbohydrates, proteins and fats, as well as water and electrolytes, which are all essential when it comes to post-workout recovery.

An analysis of 12 existing studies was conducted by the researchers to gain insight into the effectiveness of chocolate milk as a placebo or other recovery drinks.
The 12 existing studies involved 150 individuals, who each drank chocolate milk after completing exercise tests. The individuals’ heart rates, lactic acid levels and tiredness were then measured.
Even though the study shows the effectiveness of chocolate milk as a post-workout drink, the researchers say further studies should be conducted in order to draw definite conclusions. (anm/kes)
