andung-based artist Nurrachmat “Ito” Widyasena is known for his works in which he explores retro-futurism. Ito is also known for exploring the crossroads between reality and fantasy.

At ART Jakarta 2018, Ito features Supesu Taiga Asia, through which shows how development in Indonesia has always been centralized on the island of Java. Ito’s interpretation of how Indonesia is a large archipelago with many potential resources but lacks infrastructure and technology distribution is a response to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s speech in 2016 in which he said, “A dignified nation is a nation that values science and technology.”
