The Jakarta city administration is currently applying an odd-even license plate policy on all major thoroughfares in Jakarta from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Ride-hailing company Grab has launched a specially designed algorithm to support Jakarta’s odd-even policy.
The algorithm is applied for GrabCar, helping to filter and match odd-even license plates to the date, time and pick-up destination.
The Jakarta city administration is currently applying an odd-even license plate policy on all major thoroughfares in Jakarta from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The policy aims to reduce Jakarta’s traffic congestion during the 2018 Asian Games, slated to run from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2, and the Asian Para Games from Oct. 6 to 13.
The company hoped that the system could help ease Jakarta’s traffic congestion and support Grab’s customers with their activities.
Grab Indonesia marketing director Mediko Azwar said in a statement, as quoted by kompas.com, “We hope wherever Grab’s customers want to go, they do not need to worry about the odd-even policy by using Grab.” (jes/asw)
