With Museum MACAN set to celebrate its first anniversary, the Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of a Rainbow exhibition comes to an end.
he opening of the Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of a Rainbow exhibition at Museum Macan in Jakarta in mid-May feels like it was only yesterday, but the highly anticipated art showcase will come to an end on Sunday, Sept. 9.
The museum has yet to reveal the total number of visitors that have come to admire the polka dot-obsessed exhibition, but its head of communications Nina Hidayat told The Jakarta Post that on the busiest days, Museum Macan welcomed 3,000 visitors. In addition, almost 50,000 students and children have visited the exhibition.

As the end of the major exhibition nears, Museum Macan has prepared a line-up of programs to celebrate the final weekend of Yayoi Kusama’s showcase.
The final weekend programs will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9.
Saturday’s programs include storytelling for children aged 2-5 years, where the children’s book Yayoi Kusama: From Here to Infinity will be read. Visitors will also be able reserve places for rainbow origami, self-portrait drawing, ikebana and soft sculpture workshops.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s programs will kick off with a live performance by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, followed by pumpkin playdough and seed mosaic-making activities.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday for the final weekend of the Kusama exhibition.
