he inaugural Art Moments Jakarta fair will officially open its doors to the public for two days, starting on Saturday, giving art lovers the chance to view works by prominent Indonesian and international artists – including Banksy, Kaws, Mr. and Cyril Kongo – right here in Jakarta.
Over 30 leading galleries will bring together artists and their works for Art Moments Jakarta, held at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel, Gandaria City Mall in South Jakarta from May 3 to 5, with vernissage and VIP preview scheduled on Friday.
Art Moments Jakarta founder and curator Leo Silitonga said the art fair, which carries the tagline “Today's moments are tomorrow's art”, was initiated to create a new platform for Indonesian art and to promote Indonesian artists on an international stage.
“Art fairs have a positive impact on the market, this is why Art Moments Jakarta is held months earlier than other art fairs so the participants can better prepare," said Leo, a familiar figure in the art scene with his background as a banker, collector and gallery owner.
