ome appliances brand Sub-Zero and Wolf (SZ&W) unveiled its newly renovated flagship showroom at the Jakarta Design Center (JDC) in mid-July.

The showroom has a live kitchen equipped with state-of-the-art home appliances, aiming to provide customers with a welcoming and interactive environment to experience full-sized and integrated refrigeration units, wine storage and cooking ranges.

Yam Churn Meng, director of SZ&W (Southeast Asia) Pte Ltd., said in a statement that House of Sub-Zero and Wolf Jakarta welcomed customers to experience the appliances and imagine what it would be like to have the same look and feel in their homes.

“Architects and interior designers can come here with their customers and be inspired by the many possibilities that we offer in terms of customized design,” said Meng.

Sub-Zero, American manufacturer of luxury refrigeration, freezers and wine storage products acquired Wolf Appliance, premier maker of kitchen ranges, ovens, cooktops and grills in 2000, hence Sub-Zero and Wolf.

The brand, striving to achieve optimal design and practicality, manufactures preservation systems featuring dual refrigeration, lexan shelves, nano-technology spill-proof glass shelves and multi-refrigeration compartments to eliminate cross-compartment flavor contamination and to reduce freezer burn.

Furthermore, Sub-Zero refrigeration units apply sealed cooling systems for the refrigerator and freezer for optimum food preservation, as well as antimicrobial NASA air-purification technology. The latter purifies the air every 20 minutes, eliminating food-induced ethylene gas, mold, viruses and bacteria.

As a way to test the advanced preservation technology that Sub-Zero has, the showroom conducted a lemon challenge, in which guests at the launch event signed a lemon and stored it in a Sub-Zero fridge for 15 days. Another lemon was stored in a different refrigerator for the same period of time.

Fast forward to 15 days after the lemons were stored, they were taken out and observed. The ones stored in a Sub-Zero refrigerator were still firm, while the skin of those stored in the other fridge were already wrinkled. (mut)
