t is a well-known – and slightly sad – fact that men’s clothing is generally not as expressive as its feminine counterpart.
But if you take a look at the few menswear designers at the 2020 Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW), which ended on Monday, the next season is certainly to have more than earth-tone bomber jackets and suits.
Designer Ivan Gunawan once said Indonesian men aren’t as open to sartorial experiments when it comes to color and style and this is certainly the case if you walk into any given menswear department in stores across the country.
However, the capital’s male fashionistas are known to be more daring and that fact was certainly reflected in the latest iteration of Jakarta Fashion Week.
While classically masculine styles – think sharp suits, crisp shirts and straight-cut trousers in neutral colors – would always find a market throughout the seasons, several designers are currently pushing the envelope of male fashion.
Amot Syamsuri Muda has been known for his menswear explorations in terms of silhouette and shade and his newest collection is no different.
