s The Walt Disney Company's streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar prepares to launch in Indonesia on Sept. 5 in collaboration with cellular operator Telkomsel, the former officially announced on Friday a special pre-order price it will provide for Indonesian customers.

Available until Sept. 3, Telkomsel users are eligible for a special pre-order price of Rp 30,000 (US$2), which includes three months of access and a total quota of 39GB.

The pre-order can be made via MyTelkomsel app and MAXstream, among other outlets.

According to a statement, the normal subscription price for the service is Rp 39,000 per month or Rp 199,000 per year.

In order to attract Indonesian binge-watchers, Disney+ Hotstar boasts a vast collection of original content such as The Mandalorian, The One and Only Ivan, Muppets Now, Lady and the Tramp, and many more. It will also provide plenty of superhero movies from the Marvel universe, as well as films from the Star Wars franchise, and National Geographic documentaries. Also lined up are original Indonesian films and blockbuster movies for all age groups.

The platform is accessible via the website, Android and iOS smartphones, Android TV and Fire TV Stick.

There are several streaming services available for Indonesian users, however Netflix will arguably be Disney+ Hotstar's toughest rival. Following the government's new value-added tax (VAT) rule, the former announced on Aug. 1 a new monthly subscription pricing for Indonesian users, increasing the price for its cheapest subscription plan, called the Mobile package, from Rp 49,000 to Rp 54,000. Meanwhile, its Basic, Standard and Premium packages now cost Rp 120,000, Rp 153,000 and Rp 186,000, respectively. (gis/kes)
